DAWS Woman Today event
On Tuesday 16th May we held the Woman Today Event at the Stowe Centre in partnership with the treatment services (DAWS and The Alcohol Service). One of the aims of the event was to consult with as many females as possible within our service as to understand and promote a dialogue around what Woman Today Needs are; what they would like to see/be offered/engage in and to Share what is on offer throughout the community.
Woman centred working is an Initiative to inspire better services for vulnerable women – by sharing ways of working at a community level and to seek to improve services for women experiencing a combination of inter-related problems including domestic violence, homelessness, substance misuse, poor mental and physical health and offending behaviour.
Eleven external agencies attended which included SASH, INSIGHT, Westminster Social Services, Kensington and Chelsea Social Services, BOB, Outside Edge, Clements ST James , Advance, Standing Together, ADFAM and AL NON.
19 women attended the event where they took part in completing a questionnaire looking at the types of support they were wanting to access in the future, the next steps for the team are to extract this information to inform future activities for Women.
Some feedback from the event, “it was great to know what different services were on offer” “I would like support around my health and wellbeing but not around drugs”. I like information about spice and discuss the impact on my grandson.
