Happy International Women’s DAY from DAWS
Today (Thursday 8 March 2018) is International Women’s Day, a chance to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women from all walks of life – as well as draw attention to the fact that we still have progress to make to ensure gender equality for all.
As part of Turning Point’s International Women’s Day campaign, they have highlighted inspirational women from across their teams and projects, inviting them to reflect upon the moments in their careers of which they are most proud. They have featured DAWS’ very own Lisa Harston, our wonderful Partnerships and Innovations Manager.
“I have been really lucky to have had a number of exciting opportunities within my career (my first job was working in a zoo!) I am most proud of the work that I am currently doing within Community Development; the variety of community grown projects that we have been able to be a part of, and the many ways that we have been able to connect people together. From supporting Rebecca to build her coaching programme for Trans Women, to finding Billie a space to run her jewellery workshops for people in recovery, I am honoured to be working with so many inspirational women who care so much about our local community.”
We are so proud to celebrate the contributions that women make to DAWS. Our staff, our volunteers, and our service users are all inspiring women making incredible change within the community.
