We bring the whole community together through events, mapping projects, and grant schemes. We base our approach on the idea that everyone has skills, talents and interests that can improve the wellbeing of the wider community.
Roads to Wellbeing
We start with discovering the strengths in our community. Members of the DAWS team work alongside our service users and Mapping for Change to create a digital map of our community’s assets – www.roadstowellbeing.com – as a way to showcase the different activities that exist in the local area. So far there are over 500 activities, added both by volunteers and community groups. Visit the map to find out what’s going on in your area, and to add your own activities.
Big Ideas Fund
The Big Ideas Fund is aimed at those that have experienced a drug or alcohol problem and are in recovery. We help people to share passions, ideas and skills with others who may also be experiencing substance misuse issues. You can apply for up to £150 to help bring your idea to life, so if you’ve got a great idea we’d love to hear from you.
If you’ve got a great idea for your community, you can apply for the Innovation Fund, which supports small community groups and individuals to make their ideas happen with grants of between £500 and £2,500.
We want to help local people launch ideas and projects that help to reduce social isolation and improve the ‘five ways to wellbeing‘. We especially love projects which do things a bit differently, use existing resources in new ways, or offer opportunities for our service users to get involved.
To apply for the Innovation Fund, take a look at the Fact Sheet and Guidance Notes, and then fill in the Application Form.
