NHS Health and Wellbeing Event
The Leicestershire Crisis House service and Turning Point Drug and Alcohol service attended the NHS Health and Wellbeing event on Saturday 14th April at Johnson’s Medical Practice in Hamilton, Leicester.
The event was designed to raise awareness of services including general health, mental health and wellbeing. The event saw services throughout the area, such as Open Mind, the local Police service amongst many others. The event was attended by both Turning Point services with the view to spread the word about our open access services, including our 24/7 mental health crisis helpline and particularly the new joint substance misuse and mental health drop ins taking place in Coalville, Oakham and Leicester City Centre each week. The drop ins shape the opportunity for our Turning Point mental health services to work closely with our colleagues in Substance Misuse to look at both substance misuse and mental health in one place. Two members of the Leicestershire Crisis House service attended the event, one of which was Sydelle Robinson-Monani, the substance misuse lead at the service who is involved in joint working with the substance misuse service.
“We are very excited to be working in conjunction with the substance misuse team. I’m hopeful that this new, cohesive way of working will help the wider community to access a service that is suitable to them and to raise awareness of all that turning point has to offer. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to speak to other service providers at the event to increase our knowledge of what support is available as well as increase awareness of our mental health provision across the City, County and Rutland”. – Sydelle
The full list of drop ins are detailed on the ‘Our Services’ page.
