The 2016 National Recovery Walk
The 2016 National Recovery Walk was held in Halton, Liverpool, to help raise awareness and to celebrate the substance misuse recovery community nationwide.
It was a great day for staff and service users at Turning Point Oxfordshire, who took part in the celebratory walk. We had two staff, two peer mentors and 16 service users travel up north in two minibuses. In the true spirit of recovery, we not only embraced the three and half hours travel each way, we also had a great day attending the walk, and still had energy to dance and sing along to the live music in the stadium. The service users feedback about the walk was truly inspiring, it was great to help fly the flag for the amazing recovery movement we have in Oxfordshire. The event has resulted in the service users feeling positive and dedicated to their recovery and they enjoy sharing their recovery walk experience with their peers.
