Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous is an international, community-based, non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had been a major problem – recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean.

CITA (Counselling & Involuntary Tranquilliser Addiction)

A support and information service for people who have become involuntarily addicted to prescribed tranquillisers or sleeping tablets. Also offers advice for those addicted to over-the-counter drugs. Opening hours: 10am-1pm.


A national centre of expertise on drugs and drugs law providing free and confidential specialist advice to the public and professionals.
Opening hours Mon-Fri 11am – 1pm and 2pm-4pm


A national charity solely dedicated to the prevention of solvent and volatile substance abuse (VSA). Offers support and information. Opening hours:  Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Provides support and information to families of alcohol and drug users

Families Anonymous

A self-help organisation which aims to help family and friends of people with a current, suspected or former drug problem by providing mutual support. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 1pm-4pm. 6pm-10pm, weekends 2pm-10pm.

Parentline Plus

Parentline Plus is a UK registered charity which offers guidance and support to anyone parenting a child, including information about drug use. Open 24 hours.

The UK’s leading independent centre of expertise on drugs, provides authoritative and reliable information on all aspects of drug policies and problems. They publish a wide range of reference guides, books and journals for professionals and the general public. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Al-Anon Family Groups

Offers understanding and support for families and friends of problem drinkers.  Opening hours: 10am-10pm daily


A part of Al-Anon, for young people aged 12-20 who have been affected by someone else’s drinking, usually that of a parent. Opening hours: 10am-10pm daily


Advice & Support on Mental Health:

Anxiety UK  

Provides a helpline for people affected by anxiety, phobia, compulsive disorders or panic attacks.  Opening hours Mon-Fri -9.30am – 5.30pm


Promotes and delivers a free, confidential helpline and website targeted at young men who are depressed or suicidal, although they will listen to anybody who needs advice or support regardless of age, gender or geographical location.


Mind helps people take control of their mental health by providing information and advice, and campaigning to promote and protect good mental health for everyone. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9.15am-5.15pm

No Panic 

Provides support to sufferers of anxiety disorders as well as their families and carers including a helpline.

Rethink Mental Illness

Rethink Mental Illness is a national charity for everyone affected by mental illness, their families, carers and friends.  They provide services across England. Opening Hours Mon-Fri 9am – 6pm


Provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Open 24 hours.

Depression Alliance

Leading UK charity for people affected by depression. Offering advice and information. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.


Offer information and advice on all aspects of mental health for those experiencing mental illness, or for their families and friends. Opening hours: 1pm – 11pm daily.

For Families:

Young Minds

Young Minds is a national charity promoting children’s emotional wellbeing mental health. It provides expert knowledge to professionals, parents and young people through the Parents’ Helpline, and online resources. Opening hours: Monday and Friday 10-1pm, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursday from 1-4pm and Wednesday evenings from 6-8 pm.

The leading UK charity working in mental health and learning disabilities. They produce a number of publications and articles on mental health issues. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

The national agency on alcohol misuse. Its information service holds information on a wide range of alcohol-related subjects

Provides advice on safe limits of drinking and how to cut down.


A directory of residential rehabilitation services for adult alcohol misusers in England and Wales for members of the public, professionals and service users.
