DAWS produces colourful pocket guide for Notting Hill Carnival

This weekend (28/29 August) is Notting Hill Carnival, an annual event taking place every August bank holiday on the streets of Notting Hill and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

As Europe’s biggest street festival, Carnival is a vivid spectacle representing London’s multicultural past and present. It can be a great time to get together with friends and family and to enjoy some of the great food and culture on offer in the capital.

Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 09.28.21To ensure that everyone stays safe while having fun at Notting Hill Carnival, Turning Point and Blenheim‘s Drug and Alcohol Wellbeing Service (DAWS) has put together a colourful and useful pocket guide. With service users in mind, the guide gives key messages such as planning ahead to avoid triggers, cravings and difficult situations.

As well as providing information and tips to those that are attending carnival, the guide also gives some useful information about what to do for those who just happen to be in the area, highlighting the need to check transport options which can sometimes be limited when carnival is taking place.

DAWS provide drug and alcohol services in Hammersmith & Fulham, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and the City of Westminster. The services aim to support people to live susbtance free through counselling, increased access to education, training and employment, group support and signposting to other local services. Find out more about the services provided.

We are currently providing limited face to face support as a result of COVID-19; however treatment is still available. Find out the latest update on how the service is operating and please phone your local hub if you need assistance.
