Turning Point provide new drug and alcohol service in Leicestershire and Leicester

Today (1st July 2016) Turning Point become the provider of the integrated community drug and alcohol treatment service for young people, adults and their families in Leicester city, Leicestershire and HMP Leicester.

This follows the award of the contract by commissioning partners Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and NHS England.

The service aims to provide joined up support that improves access and responds quickly to changing drug and alcohol trends. The service brings together different providers into a new, whole-system approach that supports better outcomes for people with substance misuse issues, as well as the impact on the wider community.

Jay Stewart, Director for Substance Misuse at Turning Point said: ‘Turning Point Leicester and Leicestershire will deliver a range of support including walk-in services, community-based activity and online support. The team are really looking forward to working with people we support, the councils, police, NHS England, other partners and the wider community to ensure local people can access high quality, innovative support at the right place and time.’

The service will operate from a number of hubs including Leicester City, Coalville, Loughborough and HMP Leicester.
