RW18Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Celebrates Recovery week

There will be multiple free activities open to the public in and around Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland from Saturday 1st September to Saturday 8th September to celebrate recovery week.

Recovery week kicks off the start to national Recovery Month, acknowledged every year in September. The month aims to increase awareness and understanding of drug, alcohol and mental problems across the UK and celebrate those in the recovery community.

The Leicestershire launch event is taking place in Loughborough town centre this Saturday from 10am – 4pm and includes live stage performances and entertainment throughout the day. Other activities planned throughout the week include a screening of the national Recovery Street Film Festival on Wednesday 5th at Jubilee Square in Leicester (10am-3pm); the launch and opening of the Recovery Bits Café at Turning Point, 2 Eldon Street on Thursday and a local recovery walk through Leicester town centre on Friday.

The week promises to be one of celebration and has been organised by multiple local agencies which support people with drug and alcohol problems including Turning Point, Dear Albert and Leicester Police and Crime Commissioner.
