Drug Use Screening Tool (DUST)
DUST is designed for an adult to use with a young person they have concerns about regarding drug/alcohol use.

To use DUST you do not need a comprehensive knowledge of drugs & alcohol.

Many factors can increase the risk of a young person moving from ‘substance use’ to ‘substance misuse’. Unless you are a specialist drug & alcohol worker it can be difficult to distinguish between ‘use’ and ‘misuse’. Use our Drug Use Screening Tool to help you.

Listen here to Turning Point’s Senior Operations Manager, Sarah Hancock-Smith, talking about DUST with BBC Radio Leicester.

After the successful launch of DUST at City Hall on May 18th 2018, we have scheduled a number of half day training events in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The training will cover:

  • Basic drug awareness
  • Completion of the DUST
  • How to refer to our Young People service

100% of people who attended our August training rated it EXCELLENT!
“I have been trying to get him [young person] to agree for a while but after completing training last week and using the DUST with him this week he could see for himself the need for referral!”
“Providers gave the training session with energy and in a way that very was interesting”
“Really good, very informative, friendly, open to questions – relaxed – Thank you”
